Being that it's late January (something I keep reminding myself - we're almost to Feb!) and I've been covered up in bulky layers, sweaters, scarves, hats, puffy coats, boots, and whatnot for a few months now...I'm starting to yearn for more pretty, feminine things...even though it just isn't all that practical here right now, since its oh so cold and I'm always freezing!But I found a very pretty hair clip a couple weekends ago, when Hub and I took a little trip down to the Cities and popped into Anthro for a bit. This little clip is just the thing to pop in my hair and pretty things up a bit, and still stay warm in a cozy sweater! It reminds me too of the past when women often wore pretty accessories, hats, brooches, etc...something I've been thinking I need to start including in my own repertoire of accessorizing a little more often. Of course being the creative-type, I'm thinking of making some things for myself, like this brooch I made last fall, and some hair clips using some of the odds and ends I have laying around. I might as well use them, right?

It was a very snowy, gray weekend here. So gray in fact that these pictures are really not very good. But they do tell the tale of our very snowy, very pizza-y, weekend. Not so much tea was consumed. More strong coffee, fruit smoothies, and granola than anything. Too much homemade chex mix. And topped off quite perfectly with a new adaptation of "

A little peak of some packaging today...I don't know why but I get excited about labels! I picked these fun red & white ones up from Target after Christmas and I thought they'd be great for Valentine's day or almost anything really!
And finally, on a cozy note...one of my simple pleasures is enjoying leftover homemade soup warmed up the next day in a big, oversized mug. This was lunch today along with some crackers and cheese. Yum!
Here're just a few little things in the works right now. I've been slowly creating, having brief spurts of inspiration followed by longer moments away from the studio. I blame it on mid-January, cold, gloomy dark days (which make for poor picture-taking), and the fact that one of our old cameras is no longer compatible with our new computer. We can buy some device that will allow us to use it...just haven't done it yet. Blame it on January. Poor January.
Inspired by those adorable vintage wire pincushion chairs, I had a bit of fun making my own tiny version the other day. I modeled my wire chair after the design of one on a deck of sweet, old playing cards.
Friday afternoon, as the sun was getting low in the sky, I spotted a little lone deer walking from our backyard to the front. He went into the trees just a bit, picked out a spot under a fallen tree and shuffled some of the snow around there with his hooves. Then he plopped himself down for a long winter's nap. It was so sweet. Hub came home from work later and the little deer was still there, even as he walked by him to go bring in the mail.
When I came home later that morning, he was gone. Nowhere in sight. And I didn't see him at all the rest of the day. I thought perhaps our little weekend visitor was gone for good after this.
