Birthday Goodness

The theme of the day seemed to be shades of pink, with a hint of yellow tossed in here and there, such as in the lovely, buttery yellow velvet ribbon I used to trim the edge of the box I was working on (with little vintage paper birds on it). Or the sunny-colored goldfinch who came to visit against the still-drab, brown landscape which is my backyard (at least the snow is now gone!). Lovely pink abounded in gift wrap, cards, flowers, candles, and even the little pink octopuses (is that plural or should it be "octopi"?) that swam across the tote bag below (a gift from my thoughtful hubby).

Of course I was oblivious to this "pink theme" as the day transpired, but when I compiled some photos from my special day, a pattern was formed. According to Wikipedia, "pink stands for beauty, grace, and goodness." I like that!

Favorite Things

If I thought the past couple of days filled with misty rain and foggy horizons were bad, it wasn't anything compared to waking up to a Saturday morning of snow and wildly windy conditions on one of the very last days of April. I would prefer rain over snow any day in April!

To help with my bleak state of mind on this snowy weekend, I thought I'd find some positives by capturing some favorite, perhaps simple, things and/or beings:

1) First and foremost, my hubby, always bringing me joy...

2) A recently found childhood treasure, conjures up sweet memories..

3) The comfort of craft supplies nearby...

4) Soul-soothing music...

5) Warming candlelight...

6) Delicious, homemade food, made (mostly) by hubby's hands (see #1)...

7) Roasted Garlic Mash...mmmm...so good spread across some crusty baked bread.

Very First Post

The day started out (and continued into the evening) as a very dreary, gray, rain-streaked window sort of day...although the birds didn't seem to mind the rain at all as I could still hear their persistent yet sweet songs.
With the weather being such, I thought it the perfect day for an afternoon of crafting and perhaps even my first blog (in addition to the intermittent checking on the washing of winter coats...strongly hoping they won't need to be worn again for another 6 or 7 months at least). I had previously started working on the materials for my next creation, so I had a jump-start on my creativity...which sometimes helps.
After a period of some serious crafting business, an afternoon pick-me-up of my favorite green tea and one of my mom's (more precious than gold) sugar cookies was necessary.
After my replenishment and much more serious crafting...my finished product... Voila!
